STEP1.
TEMPORARILY POSITION TOP WALL CHANNELS
The metal channels add rigidity to the unsupported side wall
as you install the liner.
STEP2.
BUILD COVE AROUND BASE OF POOL WALL – See
Illustration A.
Use sceened earth to build cove about 8" high and
extend 8" on the ground around the inside of the pool
wall, packed firmly. Spead mason sand to cover all of the
pool base 1-2" deep. Tamp to ptovide a solid base.
Moisten with garden hose and spray nozzle. Trowel to a
smooth finish after tamping.
IMPORTANT: The earth mound must be built right. Water
pressure can force the iner out under the bottom rail if
this is not done.
STEP3.
SPREAD VINYL LINER INTO ITS POSITION
Lift the boxed liner to the center of the pool area. Take
care not to drag it over the edge of the sharp metal wall.
Carefully unfold the liner so that the print side is facing
upwards. Remove your shoes to avoid damage and carefully
spread liner with the bottom perimeter seam well up on the
earth mound, near the wall, evenly all around the pool. The
floor of the liner is now in its final location with the
side walls of the liner resting on the bottom next to the
wall, ready to hang.
STEP
4. HANG THE LINER OVER THE POOL WALL
Raise one of the temporary top wall channels, lifting a
section of the liner and drape it over the wall. – About a
2” collar with a 52” wall and 6” with a 48” wall.
Secure liner with a piece of plastic coping. Continue to
remove and replace sections of top channels until entire
liner is in position. Masking tape may be used at intervals
of 3” to temporarily tape the overlapping liner collar to
the outside of the wall.
STEP5.
SMOOTHING THE BOTTOM
First be sure that the seams on the bottom and side of the
liner are straight. Reduce any surplus on the bottom of the
liner by smoothing out wrinkles in the direction of the
wall. Pull liner firmly but gently. Avoid sharp tugs. Do not
pull the liner by the seams. There may be extra material in
the wall. Remove the masking tape from the collar of the
liner and adjust the overlap uniform around the pool wall.
Liner must rest on the sand base in the cove area. HINT: A
shop vacuum cleaner may be used to help position the liner.
After liner is centered in the pool, insert the vacuum hose
into the return opening and drop halfway down between liner
and side wall. Duct tape the skimmer and return opening
closed to create a better suction. The vacuum suction will
pull liner against the wall.
STEP
6. FILL THE BOTTOM OF THE LINER WITH WATER
With the liner bottom smooth and the sides loosely in
position, slowly begin to fill the pool to a depth of 1 ½
“ Measure from top of wall to water surface at several
points to be sure pool is level. Now replace all wall
supports and top ledge covers and continue to fill to a
level just below the skimmer cut-out. DO NOT CUT THE LINER.
STEP
7. INSTALLING THE SKIMMER AND WATER RETURN
Do not attach the skimmer gaskets and faceplate until the
water level is just below the wall cutouts and the liner is
stretched into its final position. This prevents the water
pressure from pulling the liner down and out of the skimmer
fittings. Three NEW gaskets are required for each fitting.
Insert first gasket on the skimmer and the outside of the
wall. The second gasket is placed between the liner and the
wall. The third gasket is placed between the face-plate and
the liner. Secure the screws and now cut the liner out of
the skimmer and return openings. FILL THE POOL AND ENJOY.
Please
note that the skimmer, gaskets and other accessories are not
included with this liner.
